Kamal Addararachchi is a well-known actor, singer, and TV host from Sri Lanka. His full name is Addararachchige Gunendra Kamal, and he was born on February 5, 1962. He started his acting journey while still in school, appearing in the 1981 film Sagarayak Meda.
Since the late 1970s, Kamal Addararachchi has played many different roles in films, stage plays, and TV shows. He has acted in over 40 movies, 20 TV dramas, and six stage plays. In 2002, he won the Sarasaviya Best Actor Award for his role as Sobana in the film Agnidahaya.
Besides acting, he is also a talented singer. In 1993, he became famous for his song "Unmadawoo," a duet with Damayanthi Jayasooriya, which was featured in the movie Saptha Kanya. He also hosted the first three seasons of the popular reality show Sirasa Superstar and the first season of Hiru Mega Stars.

Kamal Addararachchi went to Wesley College, Colombo for his education.
He was always interested in creative activities. While at school, he studied music, Sinhala literature, and Kandyan Dancing. He also enjoyed debating and was the secretary of the 'Sinhala Literary Society'.
He is married to Anurani Addararachchi, and they have two sons. Before becoming a full-time actor, he also worked as an English teacher.
Kamal's Acting Journey
Kamal Addararachchi's first big performance on stage was in the play Ane Ablick, which was shown in Colombo in 1978. He then made his debut in movies with Gamini Fonseka's Sagarayak Meda. He became very popular after starring in hit films like Saptha Kanya.
He is especially known for his strong performances in movies such as Saptha Kanya and Agnidahaya. On television, he is remembered for his roles in TV dramas like Hiruta Muvaven, Rathu Rosa, Weda Hamine, and Dandubasna Maanaya.
In 1995, Kamal won two awards at the first Sumathi Tele Awards ceremony for his acting in Dandubasna Maanaya. He received the award for Best Supporting Actor and also the Most Popular Actor Award.
In July 2012, he appeared in his first music video for the song "Hithagaawa" by Tilan Fernando. The video was released in December 2012.
