Kamal Narain Singh (born December 13, 1926 – died September 8, 2022) was a very important judge in India. He became the 22nd Chief Justice of India, which is the highest judge in the country.
He studied at L.R.L.A. High School in Sirsa and Ewing Christian College in Allahabad. He also graduated from the famous University of Allahabad. His time as Chief Justice was the shortest ever, lasting only 17 days.

Kamal Narain Singh's Legal Journey
Kamal Narain Singh started his career as a lawyer in 1957. He worked on cases related to civil law, constitutional law, and tax law. This means he helped people with their rights, government rules, and money matters.
Becoming a Judge
In 1970, he became an Additional Judge at the Allahabad High Court. A High Court is a major court in a state. Two years later, in 1972, he became a Permanent Judge there. This was a big step in his legal career.
Serving the Supreme Court
Later, in 1986, Kamal Narain Singh joined the Supreme Court of India. This is the highest court in the entire country. He then served as the Chief Justice of India from November 25, 1991, to December 12, 1991. Even though it was a short time, it was a very important role.

The University of Allahabad Alumni Association honored him as a "Proud Past Alumni." This award recognized his achievements and contributions after studying at the university.
