Kana Hanazawa (花澤 香菜, Hanazawa Kana, born February 25, 1989) is a famous Japanese actress and singer. She is well-known for her many voice roles in anime shows and movies. Since she started in 2003, she has worked on many popular projects. She has won several awards for her voice acting, including the Seiyu Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2015. She also won the Newtype Anime Award for Best Voice Actress three times.

Her first song, "Hoshizora Destination," came out on April 25, 2012.

Kana Hanazawa's Career Journey

Kana Hanazawa started acting when she was very young, even in kindergarten. She appeared regularly on a TV show called Yappari Sanma Daisensei.

Starting in Voice Acting

Her first voice acting role was Holly in the anime Last Exile. Later, she voiced Ryoko Kaminagi in Zegapain. She then joined a voice acting agency called Office Osawa.

While attending university in 2007, Kana Hanazawa began to become a well-known voice actress. She voiced important characters like Kobato in Kobato., Suou in Darker than Black: Gemini of the Meteor, and Nadeko Sengoku in Bakemonogatari. She also voiced Angel/Kanade Tachibana in Angel Beats! and Anri Sonohara in Durarara!!. In 2010, radio listeners voted her "Best Female Voice Actress." After graduating from university in 2011, she became a full-time voice actress. She was even invited to the Anime Festival Asia in Singapore in late 2010.

Singing Career and Success

As a child, Kana Hanazawa loved singing idol songs. While working on Bakemonogatari, she sang "Renai Circulation," a popular song for her character. This song's success led to more opportunities for her to sing character songs. Eventually, she started her own singing career.

In 2012, she announced her official website and plans to release four singles. These included "Hoshizora Destination," "Hatsukoi no Oto," "Happy Endings," and "Silent Snow." Her first album, Claire, was released in 2013, followed by 25 in 2014. In 2015, she released the album Blue Avenue and went on a concert tour. One of her concerts was at the famous Nippon Budokan arena. The video of this show, Live Avenue Kana Hanazawa in Budokan, was very popular.

Kana Hanazawa won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 9th Seiyu Awards. She also won the Newtype Best Voice Actress award. She starred in her first live-action movie, It's Definitely No Good You're Not Here. In 2017, she joined the Sacra Music record label. In 2021, she moved to Pony Canyon for her music releases.

Personal Life

In February 2017, Kana Hanazawa confirmed she was dating fellow voice actor Kensho Ono. They announced their marriage on July 8, 2020.
