Kanchana Kanchanasut is a brilliant professor from Thailand. She teaches computer science at the Asian Institute of Technology. She made history by being the first Thai person to use email. She also set up Thailand's very first internet server. In 1988, she helped register the special internet address for Thailand, which is called .th. Because of her amazing work, she was added to the Internet Hall of Fame in 2013.

Early Life and Learning
Kanchana Kanchanasut started her journey in Australia. In 1974, she finished her first degree at the University of Queensland. She studied mathematics and also got a special diploma in computer science. Later, in 1979, she went to the University of Melbourne. There, she earned her Master of Science degree. She returned to Melbourne in 1991 to complete her PhD.
Her Amazing Career
After finishing her studies in Australia, Kanchana Kanchanasut began working. In 1984, she joined the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). She did many important things there.
Bringing Email to Thailand
In 1986, Kanchana Kanchanasut became the first person in Thailand to use email. She helped create a computer network. This network allowed her to send emails to universities in Melbourne and Tokyo. This was a huge step for communication in Thailand.
Setting Up the Internet in Thailand
After connecting with universities in 1987, Kanchana Kanchanasut did something even bigger. In 1988, she set up Thailand's first server connected to the Internet. This meant Thailand could now be part of the worldwide web. It was a major moment for the country's technology.
Leading at AIT and Beyond
In 2013, Kanchana Kanchanasut became the Vice President of Research at AIT. She still teaches computer science there today. Outside of AIT, she also helped register the .th internet address for Thailand in 1988. This is the special ending for websites from Thailand. In 2016, she helped create the first internet exchange point in Bangkok. This helps internet traffic move faster.
