Kanjanur is a small village located in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is part of the Thiruvidaimarudur taluk. This village sits on the northern side of the Kaveri River. It is about 18 kilometers (11 miles) north-east of a larger town called Kumbakonam.

Kanjanur is a special place because it is one of the nine Navagrahasthalas in the Cauvery Delta region. These are important spots linked to the nine planets in Hindu beliefs. The village is very famous for its Agniswarar temple.

The Famous Agniswarar Temple

The Agniswarar temple in Kanjanur is dedicated to Shukra. Shukra represents the planet Venus in Hindu mythology. This temple is one of the "Navagraha temples" in the Cauvery Delta. People visit these temples to pray to specific planets.

To the north of Kanjanur, you can find some low hills. These hills are about 30 to 45 meters (100 to 150 feet) high. Scientists have found Magnesite in these hills. Magnesite is a mineral that looks like white chalk. It is used in many things, like making fireproof materials and some medicines.
