Kanya Rattanapetch was born in Bangkok, Thailand. She has studied for her master's degree at Bangkok University.
Kanya's Early Career in Acting
Kanya started her acting journey when she was around 13 or 14 years old. Her first appearance was in the 2005 Thai horror film Scared, where she played a character named Tarn. Besides acting, she also worked as a model.
She continued her film career with two more movies: Mor.8 in 2006 and Sick Nurses in 2007. Kanya became very famous after playing the character 'Ying' in the highly praised Thai film Love of Siam (Rak Haeng Sayam).
Kanya's Roles in TV Series
After her success in movies, Kanya began getting supporting roles in TV series, also known as Lakorns, from major TV stations in Thailand. She first appeared in Channel 5's sitcom Ruk Rhythm.
Later, she was cast in Channel 3's Lakorn Ruk Sorn Kaen. In 2009, she played Noodee in a Lakorn called Mea Luang on Channel 7. After that series, Kanya returned to Channel 3 for Sapai Glai Peun Tiang. She also had a lead role in a Lakorn on Channel 7, which was titled Coke E-Ling Hansa.
Kanya in Music Videos
After her performance in Love of Siam, Kanya was chosen to be the main actress in music videos for the singer WAN. She appeared in his music video for the song "Safe Distance." This song and its music video became very popular in Thailand.
She then appeared in another music video for WAN's next song, "What the Rest." This video continued the story from the first one but had a sad ending. Kanya was also featured in two music videos for the Thai band "AM Fine." In these videos, she played a rocker-emo character who fell in love with someone who loved another person.
Kanya's Other Film Projects
In 2008, Kanya made another movie called 4 Romance. She starred alongside her fellow cast members from Love of Siam, Mario Maurer and Witwisit Hiranyawongkul. However, these three actors did not share scenes in the movie. They each had lead roles in different parts of the film. Witwisit was in the segment 'Dream', Mario in 'Kiss', and Kanya in the segment 'Shy'.
