It's played by two people who try to control more of the board than their opponent. Kaori Chinen is known for her amazing skills and many wins in this challenging game.

Kaori Chinen started her professional Go career in 1993. This means she became an expert player who competes for a living. Just four years later, in 1997, she was promoted to 3 dan. In Go, "dan" is a rank that shows how skilled a player is. The higher the number, the better the player!
In 1997, Kaori Chinen married another professional Go player, Yo Kagen. She holds a special record in women's Go. She defended her title in the Women's Kisei tournament for six years in a row! This shows how incredibly consistent and strong she was as a player.
Kaori Chinen's Big Wins
Kaori Chinen has won many important Go tournaments. She has shown her amazing talent by winning some of the biggest titles in women's Go.
She won the Women's Honinbo title several times. She was the champion in 1997, 1998, 1999, and again in 2004. This is one of the most respected titles in the Go world.
Kaori Chinen also dominated the Women's Kisei tournament. She won this title in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2005. Her six-year streak of defending this title is a record!
Of course, even the best players sometimes don't win. Kaori Chinen was a runner-up in the Women's Honinbo in 1995, 2000, and 2002. She was also a runner-up in the Women's Kisei in 2004 and 2006. Being a runner-up still means she made it to the final matches, which is a huge achievement!
