Kareem Campbell (born November 14, 1973) is a famous American professional skateboarder. He became well-known for creating a special trick called "The Ghetto Bird." This trick is a cool combination of a nollie (pushing off the nose of the board), a hardflip (making the board spin in a certain way), and a late 180° turn.
Kareem Campbell's Skateboarding Journey
Kareem Campbell was a very creative skateboarder in the 1990s. Many skateboarders consider his videos from World Industries to be classic. These videos include New World Order, 20 Shot Sequence, and Trilogy. People often call him the "godfather" of smooth street style. This means he had a big influence on how street skateboarding looks.
Kareem later started his own company, Menace Skateboards. It was part of the Dwindle Distribution group. Even with his new company, he still rode for World Industries. He also helped create Axion Shoes, a brand for skateboard shoes. After Menace, he launched another company called City Stars Skateboards. This company is also part of Dwindle Distribution. Kareem still runs City Stars Skateboards today.
Kareem Campbell became even more famous in 1999. This happened when he was added as a character in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater video game series. Tony Hawk himself said that Kareem helped make skateboarding more popular in the Black community. Kareem returned to the game in 2020. He was part of the remake of the first two games.
Throughout his career, Kareem has had many sponsors. These include World Industries, Axion Shoes, Nixon Watches, and Alphanumeric Clothing.
