Karim Hossam's Tennis Journey
Karim Hossam played in many tennis tournaments during his career. He won four events on the ITF Futures circuit. These are smaller tournaments where players earn points to improve their rankings.
First Big Match
Karim made his first appearance in a major ATP main draw tournament at the 2014 Qatar ExxonMobil Open. This was a big step for him. In his very first match, he played against a highly ranked player, Richard Gasquet. Karim lost the match with a score of 5–7, 1–6 in the first round. Even though he lost, playing in such a big tournament was an important experience for him.
Why Karim Stopped Playing Tennis
Karim Hossam's professional tennis career ended on July 3, 2018. He was no longer allowed to play professional tennis. This decision was made because he broke important rules about fair play in matches. He was found to have violated rules in many matches between 2013 and 2017. These rule violations happened at ITF Futures tournaments.
Karim's younger brother, Youssef Hossam, also faced similar consequences two years later. He too was stopped from playing professional tennis for breaking rules related to fair play in matches.
More About Tennis Rules
Tennis, like all sports, has strict rules to ensure fair play. These rules help keep the game honest and exciting for everyone. When players break these rules, especially those about how matches are played, it can lead to serious consequences. This is to protect the integrity of the sport.
