Karin Rådström's Journey to Success
Karin Rådström was born in Södertälje, Sweden. She spent her childhood growing up in Nynäshamn, Sweden, and also lived for seven years in Toronto, Canada.
Her Education and Early Steps
Karin started her university studies at Queen's University at Kingston in Canada for one year. After that, she returned to Sweden. She studied to become a civil engineer at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Her studies focused on Industrial Engineering and Sustainability.
In 2004, Karin began her career as a trainee at Scania, a big company that makes trucks and buses. This was her first step into the world of commercial vehicles.
Rising Through the Ranks
Karin worked hard and took on many different roles at Scania. She gained a lot of experience in the company.
- She became the Director of Pre Sales & Marketing Communication in Kenya. This job involved helping to sell vehicles and telling people about them.
- In 2016, she became the head of Scania's Bus Business. This meant she was in charge of all the buses Scania made.
- By 2019, Karin was chosen to join the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at Scania. This was a very important role, showing how much the company trusted her leadership.

Karin became responsible for Daimler's business in Europe and Latin America. She also took charge of the well-known Mercedes-Benz trucks. On October 1, 2024, she became the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Daimler Truck. This means she is now the top leader of the entire company! She is only the second woman ever to lead a company listed on the German DAX stock index, which includes the biggest companies in Germany.
Karin's Life Outside Work
Karin Rådström is not just a business leader; she is also a talented athlete. In the late 2000s, she was an elite rower. She even spent three years on the national rowing team!
Karin is married to Daniel Rådström, and they have two children.
