Nynäshamn is a town in Sweden. It is located in Stockholm County. About 15,108 people live there.
The town started to grow in 1901. This was when a railway line to Stockholm opened. Before that, people saw it as a good place for a port.
In the early 1900s, Nynäshamn was also known as a spa town. People went there to relax and get treatments. However, most of these places closed by the end of World War I. Later, factories for a phone company opened in 1916. An oil refinery was built in 1928-29. This refinery is still there today, but it is owned by a different company called Nynas.
Nynäshamn was also a special place for sports. It hosted the Olympic sailing competition in 1912.
