Karl Amon was born on August 19, 1995. He is an Australian rules football player. Karl plays for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Before joining Hawthorn, he played for the Port Adelaide Football Club from 2014 to 2022.

Early Life and Challenges
Karl Amon grew up in Melbourne, Australia. His mother, Katrina, is an Aboriginal Australian woman from Stradbroke Island in Queensland. Karl lived in the suburb of Sandringham.
When Karl was five years old, he was diagnosed with a condition called Perthes disease. This condition affects the hip joint. He had several operations, including five on his hip. Because of this, Karl spent a year in a wheelchair and another year on crutches between the ages of five and eight. He was often in the hospital during this time.
Despite these challenges, Karl loved football. He played junior football for the East Sandringham Zebras and later for the Hampton Rovers Football Club. He also played for the Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup, which is a competition for young players. Karl was even part of the Flying Boomerangs Under 15 team, which is a special team for young Indigenous players.
AFL Career Journey
Playing for Port Adelaide (2014–2022)
Karl Amon was chosen by Port Adelaide in the 2013 AFL draft. He was the 68th player picked that year.
In 2014, Karl worked hard to improve his skills in the SANFL. This league helps players get ready for the AFL. He got better at getting the ball and playing well under pressure. Karl made his first AFL appearance in 2015. It was in Round 7 against the Brisbane Lions at The Gabba stadium. In that game, he had 9 disposals (times he got the ball) and kicked a goal. He played 7 games that season, often starting as a substitute. In one full game against the Gold Coast Suns, he had 16 possessions and kicked 3 goals.
After having some injuries in 2018, Karl came back strong in 2019. He became a regular player for Port Adelaide. He played 73 games in a row from mid-2019 until the end of the 2022 season. This shows how important he was to the team.
Joining Hawthorn (2023–Present)
At the end of the 2022 season, Karl Amon decided to move to a new club. He joined the Hawthorn Football Club as a free agent. This means he could choose which club to play for. He has been playing for Hawthorn since 2023.
