Karla Bonoff (born December 27, 1951) is an American singer and songwriter. She is well-known for writing many popular songs. Other famous singers have recorded her songs, including "Home" by Bonnie Raitt, "Tell Me Why" by Wynonna Judd, and "Isn't It Always Love" by Lynn Anderson.
The famous singer Linda Ronstadt recorded several of Bonoff's songs. These include three songs on Ronstadt's 1976 album Hasten Down the Wind. Later, in 1989, Ronstadt and Aaron Neville sang Bonoff's song "All My Life" as a duet.

Early Life and Music Career
Karla Bonoff was born to Chester and Shirley Bonoff. Her family has a Jewish background, with ancestors from different parts of Europe.
In her early career, Karla Bonoff sang background vocals for other artists. She sang for Linda Ronstadt and Wendy Waldman. In 1977, she released her very first album, simply called Karla Bonoff.
Hit Songs and Movie Soundtracks
While Karla Bonoff is best known for writing songs for others, she also had a big hit herself. Her song "Personally" became a Top 20 hit on the Billboard charts in 1982. It also reached No. 3 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
She recorded "Somebody's Eyes" for the Footloose movie soundtrack in 1984. Later, she sang "Standing Right Next To Me" for the 8 Seconds movie soundtrack in 1994. Her version of the Christmas song "The First Noel" is often played on the radio during the holidays.
Live Performances and Collaborations
In 2007, Karla Bonoff released her first live album. It featured songs she performed in 2004 in Santa Barbara, California. She toured with her band, which included Kenny Edwards and Nina Gerber.
Bonoff was also part of a music group called Bryndle. This group included Wendy Waldman, Kenny Edwards, and Andrew Gold. Bryndle first formed in the late 1960s. However, they didn't release their first albums until the 1990s and early 2000s. Karla Bonoff still tours and performs in the United States and Japan.
