Making the Show: Karma
The show Karma was made by a company called GoodStory Entertainment. It was created by J. D. Roth, who is an actor and hosts kids' game shows. Scooter Braun, a music producer, also helped create it. HBO Max announced on October 9, 2019, that they would air the show. They also shared that Michelle Khare would be the host. The show was expected to come out in June 2020.
How the Game Works
Karma was a competition where teams faced different challenges. The game had special rules and items that helped decide who would win.
The Laws of Karma
In the game, each team picked a "Law of Karma" and a color to go with it. These laws were shown on a special medallion. In the first season, there were 8 Laws of Karma:
- Inspiration
- Connection
- Patience
- Giving
- Humility
- Growth
- Focus
- Responsibility
If a team was eliminated, they had to give their medallion(s) to one of the teams still in the game. This added a strategic element to the competition.
Karma Coins and Help
After a team won a challenge, they chose two other teams to go to the "Cave of Karma." The teams that were safe from the Cave of Karma each got a "Karma Coin." They would then give their coin to one of the two teams chosen for the Cave.
At a special "offering," each safe team (except the challenge winner) gave their coin to the team they wanted to help. Having more coins gave teams more chances in the Cave of Karma.
The Cave of Karma Challenge
The team that won the main challenge got to pick two teams to send to the Cave of Karma. In the Cave, these two teams competed in a challenge. The losing team would be eliminated from the show.
The challenge in the Cave was to find hidden Karma Coin(s). The opposing team would hide these coins under 10 stone chambers on their side. Teams took turns smashing open chambers to find their coins. The first team to find the right number of coins won and stayed in the game.
