Scott Samuel "Scooter" Braun (born June 18, 1981) is an American talent manager, businessman, and music executive. He is the CEO of Hybe America. This company is the North American part of the South Korean entertainment company Hybe Corporation.
Scooter Braun is famous for discovering Canadian singer Justin Bieber in 2008. Bieber's success led to Braun starting his own record label, RBMG Records. This was a joint project with R&B singer Usher. Braun has also managed the careers of many other artists. These include Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, J Balvin, and the Kid Laroi.
He also started Schoolboy Records and co-founded other companies like TQ Ventures and Mythos Studios. His company, Ithaca Holdings, bought Big Machine Records in 2019. This led to a well-known disagreement with singer Taylor Swift about her music. Throughout his career, Braun has also organized big concerts and tours. These events supported causes like helping victims of gun violence and natural disasters. He has also worked in film and television. He was an executive producer for the comedy series Dave. Scooter Braun was born in New York City. His parents, Ervin and Susan Braun, were dentists. His grandparents moved to the United States from Hungary in 1956. Scooter grew up in Cos Cob, Connecticut.
He has four siblings. He went to Greenwich High School and was elected class president. After high school, Braun attended Emory University in Atlanta. He played college basketball there for two years. He later left college to work in the music industry.
Starting His Career in Music
Braun began his career by organizing parties while he was still in college. In 2002, he was hired to plan after-parties for the Anger Management Tour. Discovering and Managing Artists
In 2008, Scooter Braun found Justin Bieber. He saw a YouTube video of Bieber singing by accident. Bieber was only 13 years old at the time. Braun encouraged Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallette, to bring her son to Atlanta. There, Bieber recorded demo songs and met Usher. Braun eventually convinced them to move from Canada to the United States. Both Usher and Justin Timberlake were interested in signing Bieber. Bieber finally signed with Island Def Jam. In 2020, Ithaca Holdings sold these music recordings to another company for $405 million.
In April 2021, the South Korean company Hybe announced it would buy Ithaca Holdings. This deal was worth about $1.05 billion. As part of this sale, Braun became the CEO of Hybe America. He also joined Hybe's board of directors. In 2023, Hybe bought Quality Control Music for $300 million. Braun now oversees this label as well.

In 2013, Scooter Braun started dating Yael Cohen. They got married on July 6, 2014, in Whistler, Canada. They have three children: two sons born in 2015 and 2016, and a daughter born in 2018. Braun filed for divorce in July 2021, and it was finalized in September 2022.
