Katarzyna Anna Lubnauer (born on July 24, 1969) is a Polish politician, a mathematician, and a teacher. She is known for being a member of the Polish Parliament, also called the Sejm. She used to be the leader of a political party called Modern (Nowoczesna). In 2023, she became a State Secretary in the Ministry of National Education. This means she helps lead the country's education system.

Early Life and Education
Katarzyna Lubnauer was born as Katarzyna Libudzisz on July 24, 1969, in Łódź, Poland. Her mother, Zdzisława, was a professor who studied tiny living things called microbes. Her father, Jerzy, was a chemist. Her family has lived in Łódź since the late 1800s.
She went to High School No. 3 in Łódź. After that, she studied at the University of Łódź. For a short time, she worked as a school teacher. But then she decided to go back to the University of Łódź. There, she became a lecturer in the math department.
In 2001, she earned her PhD degree in mathematics. Her special research was about "Limit Theorems in Quantum Probability." Later, she became an assistant professor. She taught about Probability Theory and Statistics.
Her Journey in Politics
Katarzyna Lubnauer started her political journey in 1993. She worked for the Democratic Union party. In 1994, she joined the Freedom Union party. She became one of its local leaders in Łódź.
From 1998 to 2002, she was a member of the Łódź city council. This meant she helped make decisions for the city. In 2005, she helped lead a new party called the Democratic Party – demokraci.pl. She tried to get elected to the Sejm in 2001 and 2005, but she didn't win those times.
She wrote articles for a magazine called Liberté!. She also helped organize the Festival of Science, Technology and Arts in Łódź. In 2015, she started a campaign called Secular School. This campaign wanted to stop government money from going to religious classes in public schools.
Becoming a Member of Parliament
In the 2015 Polish elections, Katarzyna Lubnauer ran for the Sejm. She was a candidate for the Modern political party. She won a seat in the Sejm, representing the Łódź area. She received 18,549 votes.
In 2016, she became a deputy chairman of the Modern party. From January to May 2017, she was the party's spokesperson. In April 2017, she also became the leader of the Modern party's group in Parliament.
On November 25, 2017, she was chosen as the main leader of the Modern party. She won against the party's founder, Ryszard Petru. In November 2019, she stepped down as party leader. Adam Szłapka took over her role.
After the 2023 elections, she became a State Secretary. This important job is in the Ministry of National Education. She now helps guide education policies in Poland.
Personal Life
In 1991, Katarzyna Lubnauer married Maciej Lubnauer. He works in finance. They have a daughter named Anna. Katarzyna Lubnauer is also a trained sailing instructor. She has shared that she is an atheist.
