Kate Moore (born in 1979) is a talented Australian composer. She creates amazing music and is currently living in the Netherlands. Kate was born in Oxfordshire, England. She learned from many famous composers, including Australians Larry Sitsky, Jim Cotter, and Michael Smetanin. She also studied with Dutch composers Louis Andriessen, Martijn Padding, Diderik Wagenaar and Gilius van Bergeijk. Kate also attended special summer music schools where she learned from other great musicians.
In June 2017, Kate Moore made history! She became the first woman to win the important Matthijs Vermeulen Award. This award is given by the Netherlands Funds for the Performing Arts (FPK). She won it for her incredible piece of music called The Dam, which was performed by the British group Icebreaker.
