Early Life and Learning to Act
Katja Herbers was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Her parents were both famous musicians. Her mother, Vera Beths, is a violinist, and her father, Werner Herbers, was an oboist and conductor.
Because her mother toured with a music group, Katja spent some time in the United States when she was young. Growing up, she learned to speak three languages: Dutch, German, and English.
Her father's new wife, a costume designer, introduced Katja to the world of theater. This sparked her interest in acting. After high school, she studied psychology for a year at the University of Amsterdam. At the same time, she took classes at a local theater school.
Later, she moved to New York to study at the famous HB Studio. She was then accepted into the Academy of Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam, where she trained to be a professional actress from 2001 to 2005.

Even while she was still a student, Katja began her acting career. She had roles in the Dutch movies Peter Bell (2002) and Brush with Fate (2003).
After graduating, she joined a theater company in Ghent, Belgium. She later worked with the famous Munich Kammerspiele theater in Germany. She performed in many plays and received great reviews for her acting. In 2013, she won the Guido de Moor Award, an award for talented young actors, for her role in the play Three Sisters.
