Caterina Ranieri (born August 31, 1925 – died September 3, 2018), known to her fans as Katyna Ranieri, was a talented Italian singer. She was famous for her beautiful voice and for singing many popular songs.

Early Life and First Hits
Katyna Ranieri was born in Follonica, a town in Italy, in 1925. She began her singing career in 1945. She had her first big success in 1954 at a well-known music event called the Sanremo Music Festival. Her song, "Una canzone da due soldi" (which means "A Two-Penny Song"), became very popular there.
Singing for Movies and the Oscars
Katyna Ranieri became even more famous for singing "Ti guarderò nel cuore." This was the Italian version of the main song from the 1962 film Mondo Cane. The English version of this song was called "More".
In 1964, Katyna Ranieri performed "More" at the 36th Academy Awards. This was a very special moment because she was the first, and so far only, Italian singer to perform at the Academy Awards!
Her Legacy in Film Music
Besides singing, Katyna Ranieri also worked as an actress. She collaborated with famous Italian artists like Nino Rota and Federico Fellini. She sang the main song, "Strange World," for the 1968 movie Bandits in Milan. Another one of her songs, "Oh My Love," was originally from the film Goodbye Uncle Tom. This song was later featured in the soundtrack of the 2011 movie Drive.
Personal Life
In 1956, Katyna Ranieri married Riz Ortolani. He was a famous Italian film composer who also composed the song "More." Katyna Ranieri passed away in Rome, Italy, on September 3, 2018.
