Kayla Marie Whitelock (born 30 October 1985) is a famous field hockey player from New Zealand. Her maiden name was Sharland. She was even the captain of the New Zealand women's national field hockey team. This team is often called the Black Sticks Women.
Kayla has played in many big international games. She competed in four Olympic Games (in 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016). She also played in three Commonwealth Games (2006, 2010, and 2014). She took part in two Hockey World Cups (2010 and 2014). In 2010, she was named to the FIH's All-Star Team. She was also named Hockey New Zealand's player of the year in 2012.

Kayla Whitelock was born in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Her family has roots in the Rangitāne people. In December 2013, Kayla married George Whitelock. He is a rugby player for the Crusaders team.
Kayla started playing hockey when she was seven years old. Her school only offered hockey, even though she preferred netball at the time.
In 2020, Kayla Whitelock received a special award. She was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit. This award was for her great contributions to hockey.
