Playing Career Highlights

Kazumichi Takagi was born in Yasu, Shiga, Japan. He started his professional football journey in June 2000 when he joined J1 League club Shimizu S-Pulse. In his early years, he didn't play much, but he worked hard to earn his spot.

Becoming a Key Player

In 2003, Takagi started playing more often as a left-side defender. In August 2004, he moved to Vissel Kobe on loan. There, he became a regular player, often playing as a central defender in a three-player defense.

When he returned to Shimizu S-Pulse in 2005, he became a regular player. He played as a defensive midfielder and later as a central defender. During this time, his team reached the final of the 2005 Emperor's Cup, a major football tournament in Japan. From 2006 to 2008, he continued to be a strong central defender for Shimizu S-Pulse, and the team was a runner-up in the 2008 J.League Cup.

Moving to Gamba Osaka

In 2009, Takagi joined Gamba Osaka. Even though he didn't play many league games that year, he was a key player in the 2009 Emperor's Cup, which Gamba Osaka won! In 2010, he became a regular central defender for the team, and Gamba Osaka finished second in the 2010 J.League Division 1.

Later Career and Retirement

After 2011, Takagi's playing time became less frequent. He returned to Vissel Kobe in 2012, but the team was moved down to the J2 League at the end of that season. In 2013, he moved to Oita Trinita, where he played many games as a central defender. He even became the team captain in 2014.

He then played for FC Gifu in 2015 and Júbilo Iwata in 2016. In 2017, he played for Air Force Central F.C. in Thailand. He returned to Japan in 2018 to play for his local club, MIO Biwako Shiga, in the Japan Football League. Kazumichi Takagi officially retired from professional football at the end of the 2018 season.
