Kazumichi Takagi (高木 和道, Takagi Kazumichi, born 21 November 1980) is a former Japanese football player. He was known for playing as a defender.

Playing Career Highlights

Kazumichi Takagi was born in Yasu, Shiga on November 21, 1980. He started his professional football journey in June 2000. He joined J1 League club Shimizu S-Pulse.

Early Years at Shimizu S-Pulse

In his first few years, it was tough for Takagi to get much playing time. By 2003, he started playing more often as a left side back. However, his opportunities became fewer again later that year.

Loan to Vissel Kobe and Return

In August 2004, Takagi moved to Vissel Kobe on a temporary transfer, called a loan. Here, he became a regular player. He played as a center back in their defense.

He returned to Shimizu S-Pulse in 2005. He became a regular player, first as a defensive midfielder. Later, he settled into the center back position. During this time, his team reached the final of the 2005 Emperor's Cup. From 2006 to 2008, he continued to be a key center back. His team also finished second in the 2008 J.League Cup.

Time at Gamba Osaka

In 2009, Takagi joined Gamba Osaka. He didn't play many league games that year. However, he played a lot in the 2009 Emperor's Cup, which his team won! In 2010, he became a regular player again as a center back. His team finished second in the 2010 J.League Division 1. In 2011, his playing time decreased.

Later Career and Retirement

In 2012, Takagi returned to Vissel Kobe. He didn't play much, and the club was moved down to the J2 League at the end of the season. In 2013, he moved to Oita Trinita. He played many games as a center back. However, the club was also moved down to J2 in 2014. That year, he became the team captain and played regularly.

In 2015, he moved to FC Gifu in the J2 League. He continued to play many games as a center back. In 2016, he joined Júbilo Iwata in J1. But he hardly played any matches. In 2017, he played for Air Force Central F.C. in Thailand. He returned to Japan in 2018 and joined his local club, MIO Biwako Shiga. He played 25 games there before retiring at the end of the 2018 season.

National Team Career

Kazumichi Takagi also played for the Japan national football team. He made his first appearance for Japan on August 20, 2008, in a game against Uruguay. He played a total of 5 games for Japan between 2008 and 2009.
