Kazuo Imanishi (今西 和男, Imanishi Kazuo, born January 12, 1941) is a famous Japanese former football player and manager. He was a defender who played for the Japan national team. He also managed the Mazda club for several years.

Playing for Clubs: Toyo Industries
Kazuo Imanishi was born in Hiroshima, Japan, on January 12, 1941. After finishing his studies at Tokyo University of Education, he joined his hometown club, Toyo Industries, in 1963. This club later became known as Mazda.
In 1965, Toyo Industries joined the new Japan Soccer League. They quickly became very successful. The team won the league championship for four years in a row, from 1965 to 1968.
They also won the Emperor's Cup, which is another important football tournament in Japan. They won it in 1965, 1967, and 1969. Kazuo Imanishi played 42 games in the league during his career. He was even chosen as one of the best players in the league in 1966. He stopped playing football in 1969.
Playing for Japan's National Team
In December 1966, Kazuo Imanishi was chosen to play for the Japan national team. This was for the 1966 Asian Games.
He played his first game for Japan on December 10, 1966, against India. Overall, he played 3 games for the Japan national team.
Becoming a Coach
After he stopped playing, Kazuo Imanishi became a football manager. In 1984, he became the manager for Mazda, his old club. This was a challenging time because the club had just moved down to Division 2.
However, Imanishi helped the team improve. In 1986, he led them back up to Division 1. He then left his manager role in 1987. But when the club went back down to Division 2 in 1988, he returned to help them again.
He successfully helped Mazda get promoted to Division 1 once more in 1991. He then left the club in 1992. From 1994 to 2002, he worked for the Japan Football Association, which is like the main organization for football in Japan. He also served as the president of FC Gifu from 2008 to 2012.
