Keeley Hawes (born Clare Julia Hawes on 10 February 1976) is a well-known English actress. She has played many different characters in TV shows and movies.

Keeley first became famous for her role as Zoe Reynolds in the BBC spy series Spooks (2002–2004). Later, she starred as DI Alex Drake in Ashes to Ashes (2008–2010). She is also known for playing DI Lindsay Denton in Line of Duty (2014–2016). Another big role was Home Secretary Julia Montague in the drama Bodyguard (2018).

Keeley Hawes has been nominated for three BAFTA TV Awards. These awards are like the Oscars for British television. She was nominated for her roles in Line of Duty, Bodyguard, and Mrs Wilson.

Keeley Hawes was born Clare Julia Hawes on 10 February 1976. She grew up in London, England. She was the youngest of four children in her family.

Keeley went to the Sylvia Young Theatre School. This is a special school for young performers. There, she became friends with singer Emma Bunton (from the Spice Girls) and actress Kellie Bright. As a teenager, she worked part-time jobs at places like a casino, a supermarket, and McDonald's.

One day, while she was in high school, a modeling scout noticed her. She then started modeling for a teen magazine called Shout. She also worked as a fashion intern for Cosmopolitan magazine. During this time, she got her first chance to audition for a film.

Acting Career Highlights

Keeley Hawes started her acting career in the 1990s. She had small roles in shows like Troublemakers and Heartbeat. Her first movie role was in The Avengers in 1998.

From 2008 to 2010, she played DI Alex Drake in Ashes to Ashes. This show was a spin-off from another hit series, Life on Mars. For this role, she won the Best UK Television Actress Award in 2008.
