About Kehat Shorr
Early Life and Coaching
Kehat Shorr was born in Romania. From a young age, he loved marksmanship, which is the skill of shooting accurately. He became a very skilled shooter himself.
In 1963, Kehat Shorr moved to Israel. He settled in Tel Aviv with his wife and daughter. He joined a sports club called “Hapoel.” There, he quickly became a coach.
He trained many young Israeli shooters. He also prepared the national team for the Twentieth Olympic Games. These games were held in Munich, West Germany.
The Munich Olympic Tragedy

Kehat Shorr was among the Israeli team members taken hostage. This happened during the 1972 Summer Olympics by a group called Black September.
In the early morning of September 5, 1972, the terrorists attacked the Olympic village. They murdered two Israeli athletes and took others hostage. Kehat Shorr was seen at a window of their building. He stood next to fellow coach Andre Spitzer. The terrorists pointed guns at them.
German authorities tried to rescue the hostages. However, the rescue attempt was not successful. Nine hostages, including Kehat Shorr, tragically died. Two of Shorr's team members, Henry Hershkowitz and Zelig Stroch, survived the attack.
