Keiji Tamada (born April 11, 1980) is a Japanese former professional footballer. He played as a forward, which means he was a player who mainly tried to score goals.
After retiring from playing, Keiji Tamada became a football manager. As of 2025, he manages the football team at Shohei High School. This team plays in a top youth league called the Prince Takamado JFA U-18 Premier League.

Keiji Tamada's Club Career
Keiji Tamada started his professional football journey in 1999. He joined the team Kashiwa Reysol right after finishing Narashino High School.
Early Years at Kashiwa Reysol
Tamada played his first game for Kashiwa Reysol on March 13, 1999, against Avispa Fukuoka. In his first year, his team, Kashiwa Reysol, won the J.League Cup. This was a great start to his career!
He wasn't a main player at first, but he slowly became more important. By the second half of the 2002 season, he was playing a much bigger role for the team. His good performances led to him being chosen for the Japan national team in 2004.
Moving to Nagoya Grampus
In 2006, Kashiwa Reysol moved down to a lower league called J2. This gave Tamada a chance to move to a new team, Nagoya Grampus Eight (now known as Nagoya Grampus).
He played a very active part in the 2008 season. Because of his help, Nagoya Grampus got to play in the AFC Champions League for the first time ever. This is a big competition for top clubs in Asia. In the 2009 AFC Champions League, he scored two goals, helping his team reach the semi-finals.
In 2010, Nagoya Grampus won the J1 League Championship, which is the top football league in Japan. Tamada was a key player in this success.
Later Club Teams
After many years with Nagoya Grampus, Tamada played for Cerezo Osaka in 2015. He then returned to Nagoya Grampus on December 29, 2016. He signed another one-year contract with them in December 2017.
On December 6, 2018, Tamada left Nagoya Grampus. In 2019, he joined J2 League club V-Varen Nagasaki. He played for V-Varen Nagasaki until 2021, when he retired from playing professional football.
Keiji Tamada's International Career
Keiji Tamada also played for his country, the Japan national team. His first game for Japan was on March 31, 2004, against Singapore. This was a qualifying match for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
Success with Japan
He scored three goals in the 2004 AFC Asian Cup. His goals helped Japan win this important tournament.
Tamada was also part of the Japan team that played in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He even scored a goal against the strong team of Brazil during that World Cup!
He continued to help Japan qualify for the next World Cup. He scored two goals in the qualifying matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He played in two games at the 2010 World Cup. By the time he finished playing for Japan in 2010, he had played 72 games and scored 16 goals for his country.
