Keiji Tamada (玉田 圭司, Tamada Keiji, born 11 April 1980) is a Japanese former professional footballer. He played as a forward, which means he was usually one of the main attackers on the team.
As of 2024, Keiji Tamada is the manager of the football team at Shohei High School. This team plays in a top youth league called the Prince Takamado JFA U-18 Premier League.

Keiji Tamada's Club Career
Keiji Tamada started his professional football journey in 1999. He joined the club Kashiwa Reysol right after finishing Narashino High School.
Early Days at Kashiwa Reysol
His very first game was on March 13, 1999, against Avispa Fukuoka. In his first year, Kashiwa Reysol won the J.League Cup, which is a big achievement! At first, he wasn't a main player. But he slowly became more important, especially in the second half of the 2002 season. His great play even led to him being chosen for the Japan national team in 2004.
Moving to Nagoya Grampus
In 2006, Kashiwa Reysol moved down to a lower league, J2. This gave Tamada a chance to move to Nagoya Grampus Eight (now known as Nagoya Grampus). He played a key role in the 2008 season. Because of his help, Nagoya Grampus played in the AFC Champions League for the first time ever.
In the 2009 AFC Champions League, he scored two goals. This helped his team reach the semifinals of the competition. The biggest win for Tamada and Nagoya Grampus came in 2010. They won the J1 League Championship, which is the top football league in Japan!
Later Club Years
After many years with Nagoya Grampus, Tamada played for Cerezo Osaka in 2015. He then returned to Nagoya Grampus on December 29, 2016. He signed another one-year contract with them in 2017. However, on December 6, 2018, he left Nagoya Grampus. In 2019, Tamada moved to another J2 League club, V-Varen Nagasaki.

Keiji Tamada also had a successful career playing for his country, Japan.
First Games for Japan
He played his first game for the Japan national team on March 31, 2004. This was a qualifying match for the 2006 FIFA World Cup against Singapore.
Asian Cup and World Cup Success
Tamada scored three goals in the 2004 AFC Asian Cup. These goals were very important and helped Japan win the tournament! He was also part of the Japan team that played in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. During that World Cup, he scored a goal against the strong team of Brazil.
He continued to help Japan in their journey to the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He scored two goals in the qualifying matches. He then played in two games at the 2010 World Cup itself. By the time he finished playing for Japan in 2010, he had played 72 games and scored 16 goals for his country.
