Keith Holmes: A Champion Boxer
Keith Holmes started his professional boxing journey in 1989. He quickly made a name for himself in the sport.
In 1996, Keith won his first big title. He became the World Boxing Council (WBC) Middleweight Champion. He achieved this by winning against Quincy Taylor with a TKO (Technical Knockout). This means the referee stopped the fight because Quincy Taylor couldn't continue safely.
Keith successfully defended his championship title two times. However, in 1998, he lost his belt to Hassine Cherifi. It was a close fight that went to the judges' decision.
But Keith didn't give up! In 1999, he got a chance to fight Cherifi again. This time, Keith won back his WBC Middleweight title with another TKO in the seventh round.
He defended his title two more times after that. Later, he faced another boxing legend, Bernard Hopkins, in 2001. Keith lost his title to Hopkins in a fight that went the full distance.
After losing the title, Keith continued to box sometimes. In 2005, he had a tough fight against Roman Karmazin. This fight was to decide who would get a chance to challenge for the IBF Light Middleweight title. Keith lost this very close fight by a majority decision.
Outside of boxing, Keith Holmes follows a vegan diet. This means he does not eat any animal products.
