Quincy Taylor's Boxing Career
Quincy Taylor started his professional boxing career in 1986. He was a southpaw boxer, which means he fought with his right hand forward.
Becoming a Champion Boxer
In 1994, Quincy Taylor got a chance to fight for a major title. He challenged Julian Jackson, who was the WBC middleweight champion. Taylor won the fight by a technical knockout (TKO). A TKO happens when the referee stops the fight because one boxer cannot continue safely. This big win made Quincy Taylor the new WBC middleweight champion.
Losing the Title and Retirement
After winning the title, Quincy Taylor had to defend it. In his next fight, he lost the title to Keith Holmes. Taylor had recently had knee surgery and was not fully recovered for this fight.
After this loss, Taylor took a break from boxing for two years. He returned in 1998 and won a fight. Then he took another long break for three years. He fought one more time in 2001 and won again. After that, Quincy Taylor decided to retire from professional boxing.
