Kelley J. Robinson (born 1985/1986) is an American community organizer. She is currently the president of the Human Rights Campaign. This group works to protect and advance the rights of LGBTQ+ people.
Education and Early Life
Kelley Robinson studied Sociology and Women's and Gender Studies. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2008. During her time at college, Robinson faced some difficult experiences. These challenges caused her to take a temporary break from her studies.
Career and Advocacy
Kelley Robinson began her career in 2008. She worked as a political organizer for Barack Obama's presidential campaign. This role involved helping to organize people and support for the campaign.
Later, Robinson helped lead efforts to change which political party controlled the U.S. Senate. This work happened during the 2020 elections.
In late 2022, Kelley Robinson became the president of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). The HRC is a very important organization. It works to ensure equal rights for all people, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community. Robinson is the first Black woman who is also openly gay to lead this group.
As president, Robinson has shared her main goals. She wants to focus on several key issues:
- Making sure everyone has fair voting rights.
- Protecting reproductive rights (healthcare choices).
- Advancing LGBTQ+ rights for all.
- Working for living wages (fair pay for work).

She talked about the increase in violence and extreme actions against LGBTQ+ people.
On December 29, 2024, Robinson mentioned former President Jimmy Carter. She said he was a supporter of the gay and lesbian community in the United States.

In April 2024, Kelley Robinson was recognized for her influence. She was included in the Time 100 list. This list names the most influential people of the year.
Personal Life
Kelley Robinson married her wife, Becky George, in 2020. They have one child together. Robinson is a member of the Catholic faith.
