Kelli's Music Career
Starting Out: Liberty X (2001-2007)
In 2001, Kelli Young tried out for a TV show called Popstars. This show aimed to find singers to form a new music group. Kelli was one of the finalists.
Even though she didn't win, Kelli and four other singers (Tony Lundon, Kevin Simm, Jessica Taylor, and Michelle Heaton) decided to form their own group. They called themselves Liberty X. They signed a big record deal and started making music.
Liberty X released three albums and had seven songs that reached the top 10 in the music charts between 2001 and 2005. Their most famous song, "Just a Little", became number one in May 2002. Other popular songs included "Thinking It Over", "Got to Have Your Love", "Song 4 Lovers", and "Holding on for You". These all reached the top 5 in the UK Singles Chart. The group sold over 3 million records around the world. Liberty X decided to take a break in 2007.
After the group split up, Kelli appeared in a TV special called Britain Sings Christmas in 2007. She sang a cover version of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey. Kelli tried to get a solo music deal, but it didn't work out. She then took a long break from her music career.
Liberty X Returns (2013-Present)
In 2013, Kelli reunited with the other members of Liberty X for a TV show called The Big Reunion on ITV2. This show brought together many pop groups from their time. They worked through old problems and performed live at the London Hammersmith Apollo.
Because the show was so popular, Liberty X went on a full tour in 2013 and 2014. In 2017, Kelli, Jessica Taylor, and Michelle Heaton formed Liberty X again. This time, it was a group of three women, without Tony and Kevin. Since then, they have continued to perform at music festivals and Pride events.
