Discovering the Kemper Building
This impressive building stands 522 feet (about 159 meters) tall. It has 41 floors, which is a lot of levels! The Kemper Building was finished in 1962.
A Unique Design
When it was first completed, the Kemper Building was special. It was the tallest office building covered in marble. Marble is a beautiful stone often used in construction.
How Tall Is It Now?
Even though it was once the tallest marble-covered building, many other skyscrapers have been built since. Today, the Kemper Building is the 72nd tallest building in Chicago.
What Happened to the Kemper Company?
The building is named after a company called Kemper Corporation. This company used to have its main offices there.
Moving On
In March 2018, Kemper Corporation announced that they were moving out. They decided to move their offices to another tall building nearby, called the Aon Center.
