Kenneth L. Durrett (born December 8, 1948 – died January 7, 2001) was a talented American basketball player. He played professionally in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for teams like the Kansas City Kings and Philadelphia 76ers. Standing 6 feet 7 inches tall, Ken was a strong power forward. He was a big star at La Salle University from 1968 to 1971.

Ken Durrett's College Career
Ken Durrett was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He went to Schenley High School before joining La Salle University.
Playing for La Salle Explorers
Durrett played for the La Salle Explorers from 1968 to 1971. He was a three-time winner of the Robert V. Geasey Trophy. This award goes to the best player in the Philadelphia Big 5 college basketball group. Only four players have ever won it three times!
Ken was an amazing scorer in college.

In 1969, as a sophomore, Ken was a Co-MVP (Most Valuable Player) in the Big 5. That year, the Explorers had an amazing season with 23 wins and only 1 loss. In 1971, he helped La Salle get into the 1971 National Invitation Tournament. He was also named a Consensus second-team All-American.
College Honors and Injury
Ken Durrett was honored for his great college career.

Sadly, a knee injury ended his college playing days.
Ken Durrett in the NBA
After his college career, Ken Durrett was chosen in the 1971 NBA draft. The Cincinnati Royals picked him as the fourth overall player.
Playing for the Kings and 76ers
Ken's college knee injury still bothered him. He played for the Royals for parts of four seasons. The team later changed its name to the Kansas City-Omaha Kings. In the middle of the 1974–75 NBA season, he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. He retired from professional basketball at the end of that season.

Life After Basketball
