Kenneth Leo Lyons (March 17, 1953 – May 20, 2012) was a talented bass guitarist. He was a founding member of the famous southern rock band 38 Special. Ken was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He helped start the band in 1974.
Ken Lyons and 38 Special
Ken Lyons helped create the band 38 Special in 1974. He started it with Don Barnes, Donnie Van Zant, Jack Grondin, Steve Brookins, and Jeff Carlisi. Ken played the bass guitar for the band.
He was a member of 38 Special from 1974 to 1977. During this time, he played on their very first album. This album was called 38 Special.
Leaving the Band
Ken Lyons left 38 Special in 1977. This was before their first album was even released. After he left, another great musician named Larry Junstrom took his place. Larry continued to play bass for 38 Special until he retired in 2014.
