Ken Middleditch's Speedway Journey

Starting His Racing Career
In 1948, Ken joined the Hastings Saxons team. This team was in the Third Division of the National League. He learned to ride at the Eastbourne training school. By 1949, Ken was the top scorer for the Hastings team.
Sadly, the Hastings team closed down at the end of 1949. Ken then signed with the Poole Pirates. This move would change his career forever.
Becoming a Star at Poole
Ken had a very successful time with the Poole Pirates. He often raced with another great rider, Tony Lewis. Together, they were a strong team. Ken eventually became the captain of the Poole Pirates.
He helped the club win four league titles. This shows how important he was to the team's success. In 1957, Poole closed for a year. During this time, Ken rode for the Swindon Robins. He later returned to Poole for two more periods before he stopped racing in 1962.
