Ken "Monster" Montour was born on September 9, 1979, in Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation, Canada. He is a former professional box lacrosse player. Ken played as a goalie for eight seasons in the National Lacrosse League (NLL), spending most of his time with the Buffalo Bandits. He is a champion of both the NLL and the Mann Cup, and he has been honored in the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Ken's Early Lacrosse Journey
Ken Montour started playing lacrosse as a young boy in Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation. He played minor box lacrosse and quickly showed how talented he was. He won several awards, like the Larry Ruse Award for being a top goalie. In 1995, he also won a gold medal in field lacrosse at the Indigenous Games in St. Paul, Minnesota.
As a member of the Six Nations Arrows, Ken was named the Most Valuable Player in the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League in 1999. He was also a finalist for the Tom Longboat Award, which celebrates Indigenous athletes. After playing for the Arrows, he joined the Six Nations Chiefs for most of his senior summer lacrosse career. In 2001 and 2002, he played for the Coquitlam Adanacs in the Western Lacrosse Association. He helped the Adanacs win their first-ever Mann Cup in 2001.
Ken also played university field lacrosse at Brock University. His team won the Ontario championship four times! He was named an Ontario University Athletics All-Star and was the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the 2003 championship game.
Playing in the National Lacrosse League
Ken Montour was chosen by the Albany Attack in the 1999 NLL draft. He was the 26th player picked overall.
He made his professional debut in the 2001 season. He played in six games that year and had a good start to his career.
In the 2009 NLL season, Ken was chosen to be a starter in the National Lacrosse League All-Star Game. This is a special game where the best players from the league play against each other. That same year, he was also named the NLL Goaltender of the Year. This award goes to the best goalie in the entire league.
In the 2010 season, Ken had to stop playing professional lacrosse because of an injury he got during a game. Even though he finished that game, he did not play professionally again after that.
In 2017, Ken Montour was honored for his amazing career when he was inducted into the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Playing for His Nation
Ken Montour also played lacrosse internationally for the Iroquois Nationals. He represented the Iroquois Nationals Under-19 Field team in 1996 and 1999, playing in tournaments in Japan and Australia. The 1999 team won a bronze medal!
In 2002 and 2007, he played for the Iroquois Nationals Men's Box team in the Box Lacrosse Championship. He was a very important part of the team's success in these tournaments, helping them finish in second place both times.
