Kentaro Sawada (沢田 謙太郎, Sawada Kentaro, born May 15, 1970) is a former Japanese football player. He was born on May 15, 1970. Kentaro Sawada played as a midfielder and defender. He also played for the Japan national team.
Playing for Clubs
Kentaro Sawada was born in Kamakura, Japan. After finishing university, he joined the Kashiwa Reysol football club in 1993. At Kashiwa Reysol, he played as a right-midfielder and a right side-back.
In 1994, his team, Kashiwa Reysol, finished second in their league. This great performance helped them get promoted to the J1 League. The J1 League is Japan's top professional football league.
Sawada stayed with Kashiwa Reysol until 1998. In 1999, he moved to another team, Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He played for Sanfrecce Hiroshima for five years. Kentaro Sawada stopped playing professional football at the end of the 2003 season.
Playing for Japan's National Team
Kentaro Sawada also had the chance to play for his country. He joined the Japan national team. His first game for Japan was on September 20, 1995. They played against the Paraguay national team.
