Kenturah Davis facts for kids

Kenturah Davis, born in 1980 in Altadena, California, is an American artist and designer. She creates art using many different methods. These include sculpture, drawing, printmaking, painting, and performance art. Kenturah has lived in Los Angeles and New Haven in the United States. She has also lived in Accra, Ghana.

Kenturah's Education

Kenturah Davis studied art at two well-known universities. She earned her first degree from Occidental College in 2002. Later, she received a master's degree from Yale University School of Art.

Her Artistic Career

Kenturah's art often explores big ideas. She looks at how people see themselves and how language works. She also uses figures and shapes in her art. She uses many different ways to make her art. These include drawing, painting, sculpture, and performance art. Some of her artwork is kept at the Walker Art Center.

Public Art and Collaborations

In 2020, Kenturah worked with a fashion brand called Osei Duro. The Los Angeles Metro also asked her to create a large artwork. This artwork will be a permanent part of the new K Line rail system. It will be placed in a special spot along the line.

In 2021, the Pérez Art Museum Miami bought one of her artworks. The piece is called Black As the Most Exquisite Color (2019). This was part of the museum's plan to add new art. Her work joined pieces by other famous artists.

In 2022, a special portrait by Kenturah was shown. It was a portrait of the filmmaker Ava DuVernay. This artwork is now part of the collection at the National Portrait Gallery.
