About Kerser
Scott Froml was born in Campbelltown, New South Wales, Australia. He started rapping when he was young. Kerser has released two mixtapes and ten albums over twelve years. One of his biggest inspirations is the famous rapper Tupac.
Early Music Releases
Kerser released his first mixtape, Straight Out Tha Gutter, in 2009. His second mixtape, Down the Drain, came out in 2010.
His first album, The Nebulizer, was released on October 14, 2011. A producer named Nebs created the music for this album, which is why it has that name. People described the album as a mix of rap, electronic music, and R&B. Kerser became well-known because of a song from this album called "Kerser is the sickest."
Chart Success
Kerser's second album, No Rest for the Sickest, was released on November 2, 2012. It reached number 15 on the main Australian album charts. It also hit number 1 on the Australian Urban Albums Chart. He went on a national tour to support this album.
In 2013, Kerser signed with a management company called Obese Records. Later, in 2015, he started working with an independent manager. In March 2013, he released a song called "We Here Now" with another artist named Rates. This led to another national tour. He also performed at the Breath of Life Festival in Tasmania.
In August 2013, Kerser released a DVD called The No Rest for the Sickest National Tour. This DVD went straight to number 1 on the Australian Music DVD Chart.
His third album, S.C.O.T., was released on October 25, 2013. Other artists like Nebs, Jay (Uf), and Jace Excel were featured on this album. It reached number 1 on the Australian Urban Albums Chart and the iTunes Chart. He toured Australia in early 2014 to support this album.
Kerser's fourth album, King, was produced by Nebs. It came out on November 14, 2014, and reached number 5 on the Australian album charts.
His fifth album, Next Step, was released on November 13, 2015. This album was produced by Sinima Beats. It was the first album Kerser released under his own record label, ABK Records. Warner Music Australia helped distribute it.
On June 23, 2023, he released A Gift & a Kers. This album also came out through ABK and Warner Music Australia. It reached number 1 on the Australian album charts.
Battle Rapping
Kerser is also famous for his "battle rap" skills in Australia. Battle rap is when two rappers compete by freestyling or performing prepared rhymes to insult each other in a clever way. He appeared in battle rap events like Got Beef and Real Talk Battle League.
Between 2010 and 2012, he only lost two battles. He also had a well-known battle against another rapper named 360 in December 2011. No official winner was announced for that battle.
Rivalry with 360
Kerser's friendly rivalry with 360 became more intense in August 2013. 360 released a song called "30 Minutes Tops" that was meant to challenge Kerser. Kerser responded with his own song called "Old Matt."
This rivalry and battle is known as one of the most-watched battle rap events in Australian hip hop history. It helped both rappers become more famous. It also showed the differences between the hip hop cultures in Sydney and Melbourne. Even after the battle, Kerser and 360 have shown respect for each other as artists.
