Kevin Robert McNally is an English actor and writer. He is famous for playing Joshamee Gibbs in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. He has been in many other TV shows and films since he started acting in 1976.

Early Life and Learning
Kevin McNally was born in Bristol, England. He grew up in Birmingham. As a child, he went to Redhill Junior School and Mapledene Junior School. He also attended Central Grammar School for Boys.
Acting Career
Kevin McNally started acting professionally when he was just 16 years old. His first job was at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. In 1973, he earned a special scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. This is a very famous acting school. In 1975, he won the Best Actor Bancroft Gold Medal there.
In 1976, he appeared in a BBC TV show called I, Claudius. The next year, he was in the show Poldark as Drake Carne.
Kevin McNally is best known for his role as Joshamee Gibbs in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. He played this character in all five movies! He is one of only three actors to appear in every film. He even voiced Gibbs in the video games Kingdom Hearts III and Sea of Thieves.
He has also been in other big movies. He appeared in two Second World War films: Valkyrie and Conspiracy. These films showed what happened behind the scenes with important people in Nazi Germany.
In 2011, Kevin McNally joined the American TV series Supernatural as a character named Frank. He also lent his voice to the popular video game Assassin's Creed III in 2012. He played the character Robert Faulkner.
From 2014 to 2017, McNally starred in the AMC series Turn: Washington's Spies. He played Judge Richard Woodhull. In 2019, he played Captain Mainwaring in special re-enactments of old TV episodes from the show Dad's Army.
In 2021, Kevin McNally appeared in three episodes of Flux, which is the thirteenth series of Doctor Who. He played Professor Jericho, a character that fans really liked. He had actually been in Doctor Who before, in 1984.
Besides acting, Kevin McNally has also written for TV. He wrote nine episodes of a show called Minder and two episodes of Boon.
Personal Life
Kevin McNally has three children. He has two children with actress Stevie Harris.
He met actress Phyllis Logan in 1994. They got married in 2011. Their son was born in 1996. In 2013, their family lived in Chiswick, England.
