Kevon Edmonds, born on February 25, 1957, is an American singer. He is a member of the R&B music group After 7. Kevon is also the older brother of famous musician Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds.

After 7 became well-known for their songs "Ready or Not" and "Can't Stop" in 1990. They released several successful albums.

Kevon Edmonds also started a solo career. His first album, 24/7, came out in 1999. The main song from this album, also called "24/7", was a huge hit. It sold a lot of copies, earning a gold award, and reached number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

He was also part of a group called Milestone. This group included his brothers Babyface and Melvin, along with K-Ci & JoJo. They released one song, "I Care 'Bout You," for the 1997 movie Soul Food.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Kevon Edmonds was born in Indianapolis in 1957. He is one of six sons born to Marvin Edmonds Sr. and Barbara Edmonds. His younger brother is the well-known musician Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds.

Kevon went to North Central High School. He then studied at Indiana University Bloomington. While at Indiana University, he was part of a music group called Soul Revue. There, he met Keith Mitchell, who would later become his bandmate in After 7.

After college, Kevon worked at a company called Eli Lilly and Company. But he still loved music. He and Keith, along with Kevon's brother Melvin, would often perform music together in their local area.

After 7 and Milestone Groups

In the late 1980s, Kevon's younger brother Babyface had become a very successful singer, songwriter, and producer. Babyface invited Melvin, Kevon, and Keith to Los Angeles. He helped them get a record deal with Virgin Records. He also gave their group the name After 7.

As a member of After 7, Kevon Edmonds helped the group achieve great success. They earned platinum albums, meaning their albums sold over a million copies. They also had several gold singles, which means their songs sold over 500,000 copies. After 7 toured across the country and became one of the top R&B groups.

After their 1995 album, Reflections, After 7 left Virgin Records. This allowed the group members to work on their own music projects. For a while, the group separated.

During this time, Kevon joined a fictional group called Milestone. This group appeared in the movie Soul Food. Milestone included Kevon, Babyface, and K-Ci & JoJo. Their song "I Care About You" became a hit. For a short time, Milestone almost became a real music group. However, plans fell through due to issues with record labels.

Later, Kevon's nephew, Jason Edmonds, joined him on tour as a background singer. Jason is Melvin's son. By the late 2000s, After 7 started touring again. Jason took his father's place in the group. In 2015, Melvin reunited with the group for their song "I Want You." A full comeback album called Timeless was released in October 2016.

Solo Music Career

In 1999, Kevon Edmonds released his first solo album. It was titled 24/7. The main song from the album, also called "24/7", was a huge success. It earned a gold award and reached number 10 on the Hot 100 music chart. The second song from the album, "No Love (I'm Not Used to)", also did well. It reached number 25 on the R&B charts.

Kevon's second solo album, Who Knew, was released on October 13, 2009. The first song from this album was "Oh."
