Kevon Bernard Edmonds (born February 25, 1958) is an American singer. He is a member of the R&B music group After 7. He is also the older brother of famous musician Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds.

After 7 released several successful albums. They became well-known for their songs "Ready or Not" and "Can't Stop" in 1990. Kevon Edmonds also started a solo music career. His first album, 24/7 (1999), was very popular. The song "24/7" sold many copies and reached number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His next song, "No Love (I'm Not Used to)", was also a hit on the R&B charts.

Kevon was also part of a group called Milestone. This group included his brothers Babyface and Melvin, and also K-Ci & JoJo. Milestone released one song, "I Care 'Bout You." This song was part of the music for the 1997 movie Soul Food.

Early Life and Music Journey

Kevon Edmonds was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1958. His parents were Marvin Edmonds Sr. and Barbara Edmonds. He was the fourth of six sons in his family. His older brothers were Marvin Jr., Melvin, and Michael. His younger brothers were Kenny "Babyface" and Derek.

Kevon went to North Central High School. He then studied at Indiana University Bloomington. At the university, he was part of a music group called the Soul Revue. There, he met Keith Mitchell, who would later become his bandmate in After 7.

Kevon and Keith decided to form a music group as a fun activity. They also asked Kevon's brother Melvin to join them. For many years after college, Kevon worked at a company called Eli Lilly and Company. However, he continued to perform locally with Keith and Melvin.

By the late 1980s, Kevon's younger brother Babyface had become a very successful singer, songwriter, and music producer. Babyface invited Melvin, Kevon, and Keith to Los Angeles. He named their group After 7 and helped them get a record deal with Virgin Records.

Joining After 7

As a member of After 7, Kevon Edmonds achieved great success. The group earned several platinum albums, meaning they sold over a million copies. They also had many gold singles, selling over 500,000 copies each. After 7 toured across the country. They became known as one of the top R&B groups.

After their 1995 album, Reflections, After 7 left Virgin Records. This was because of some problems they had with the record label. Leaving Virgin Records allowed the group members to work on their own projects. Over time, the group members went their separate ways for a while.

Kevon then worked on a project with Babyface and K-Ci & JoJo. They formed a fictional group called Milestone for the movie Soul Food. The group performed in the movie and had a hit song called "I Care About You." For a short time, Milestone almost became a real music group. However, issues between record labels caused the project to stop.

After releasing his first solo album, Kevon invited his nephew Jason Edmonds to tour with him. Jason is Melvin's son. Jason sang background vocals for Kevon for several years. By the late 2000s, After 7 started touring again. Jason joined the group, taking his father's place. However, the group decided not to record new music without Melvin. Melvin was able to rejoin the group for their 2015 song "I Want You." A full comeback album called Timeless was released in October 2016.

Solo Music and Other Projects

In 1999, Kevon Edmonds released his first solo album, 24/7. The main song from the album, also called "24/7", was a huge hit. It sold enough copies to be certified gold. It also reached number 10 on the Hot 100 music chart. The second song from the album, "No Love (I'm Not Used to)", also did well. It reached number 25 on the R&B music charts.

Kevon Edmonds' second solo album, Who Knew, was released on October 13, 2009. The first song from this album was called "Oh."
