The Story of Kewadin Casino

The idea for the Kewadin Casino, Hotel and Convention Center started in 1984. The leaders of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians decided to open a casino.

The center first opened in November 1985. It began as a single room where people could play blackjack. Over the years, the building grew much larger. It was expanded many times to add more space and features. These expansions happened in 1988, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1997, and 2004.
