Keysha Freshh (born June 28, 1993) is a Canadian rapper and songwriter. Her birth name is Keisha Fanfair. Keysha is also one of the three members of the hip-hop group The Sorority. She is known for her powerful lyrics and energetic performances.

Early Life and Education

Keysha was born in Toronto, Ontario. Her parents are from Guyana. She went to high school in Ajax, Ontario. Keysha attended both J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate and Archbishop Denis O'Connor Catholic High School. After high school, she went to Seneca College.

Keysha's Music Career

Keysha started her music journey very early. She had her first song published when she was just five years old. That same year, she began performing for local audiences. By the age of 11, Keysha was writing her own music and rapping.

In 2010, Keysha traveled to New York City. She filmed her first music video there for a song called “Hollywood Fresh.” She worked with famous rapper Doug E. Fresh. He was the one who gave her the stage name “Freshh.”

Keysha released her first music project, This is Keysha, in 2009. It was first available only in the USA. Since then, Keysha has released many solo projects. She has put out seven solo music collections.

Forming The Sorority

In 2016, Keysha joined three other female rappers from Toronto. They performed together in a special rap session called a "cypher." This performance became very popular online, especially on International Women’s Day.

Later that year, the four rappers decided to form a group. They called themselves The Sorority. They released new music throughout 2016 and 2017. In 2018, The Sorority released their first full album, Pledge. After that, they went on their first tour as a headlining group.

Breaking Records

Keysha Freshh has achieved some amazing things in her career. In 2010, she became the first female rapper in Canada to have three songs playing on commercial radio at the same time. That same year, she also made history. She was the first musician to film a music video inside the famous Empire State Building since the events of 9/11.

Notable Projects

In November 2016, Keysha released her sixth EP (Extended Play), In Samadhi. An EP is like a mini-album with fewer songs. This EP was highly praised by music critics. It was even chosen as one of the "Best of 2016 Staff Picks" by Pigeon and Planes.

In June 2019, Keysha released her eighth solo project, Field Trip. Fans were very excited for this release. The album received many positive reviews.

Keysha also uses her music to make a difference. In May 2019, she worked with Canadian hip-hop artist Saukrates and DJ Nana. They created a song to speak out against violence. This song was released to help bring awareness and hope.

Keysha also teamed up with Maestro Fresh Wes for a children’s album. The album is called “Julia The Great.” It is based on a character from his children’s book, “Young Maestro School days.” This album was nominated for Children's Album of the Year at the 2023 Juno Awards. The Juno Awards are a big music awards show in Canada.
