Keystone, North Dakota facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Keystone was once a small community, also known as a ghost town, located in Dickey County, North Dakota, in the United States. It is no longer an active town.

The Story of Keystone

Keystone was first settled by people who came from Pennsylvania. They named the community "Keystone" because Pennsylvania is often called the "Keystone State." The very first part of Keystone was actually built about a mile north of where the town eventually settled down.

What Happened to Keystone?

A church was built in Keystone around 1883. It cost about $3,000 at that time. This church was an important part of the community for as long as Keystone existed. When the town eventually faded away, the church building was moved to a nearby town called Monango. This shows how the community of Keystone eventually disappeared, becoming a ghost town.
