Kan Bonfils (born October 7, 1967 – died January 5, 2015) was a talented actor from Korea and Denmark. He was known for his roles in many popular movies and stage shows.
Early Life and Training
Kan Bonfils was born in Korea. When he was five years old, he was adopted by Knud Erik Bonfils and grew up in Denmark.
Later, he moved to London to follow his dream of becoming an actor. He studied acting at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. Kan was also a skilled martial artist. He learned Wing Chun Kung Fu and also practiced Yin Style Ba Gua Zhang.
Acting Career
Before becoming an actor, Kan Bonfils worked as a model for famous brands like Hermes.
He appeared in several big movies. You might know him as Jedi Master Saesee Tiin in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999). He was also in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003) and Batman Begins (2005). Kan also had roles in James Bond films, including Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and Skyfall (2012).
Besides films, Kan Bonfils performed on stage in London's West End. He acted in famous musicals like Miss Saigon and The King & I. In The King & I, he played the main role alongside the famous actress Elaine Paige.
Later Life and Passing
Kan Bonfils passed away on January 5, 2015. He was rehearsing for a play called Inferno when he collapsed. Sadly, he could not be saved and was pronounced dead at 42 years old.
