Khyri Jaquan Thomas (born May 8, 1996) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Calgary Surge in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for the Creighton Bluejays. He was picked 38th in the 2018 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers and then traded to the Detroit Pistons.

Early Life and High School
Khyri Thomas grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He went to Omaha Benson High School Magnet. After high school, he attended Fork Union Military Academy before going to college. He decided to play college basketball at Creighton University.
College Basketball Career
Khyri Thomas played three years of college basketball for the Creighton Bluejays.
Freshman Year (2015-2016)
As a freshman, he played in 34 games. He averaged 6.2 points, 1.4 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Sophomore Year (2016-2017)
In his second year, Thomas improved a lot. He averaged 12.3 points, 3.3 assists, and 5.8 rebounds. He was also named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year. This award is given to the best defensive player in the Big East Conference.
Junior Year (2017-2018)
During his junior year, he continued to play well. He averaged 15.1 points, 2.8 assists, and 4.4 rebounds. For the second year in a row, he was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year. After this season, he decided to enter the 2018 NBA draft and become a professional player.
Professional Basketball Career
Khyri Thomas started his professional career in 2018. He has played for several teams in different leagues.
Detroit Pistons (2018–2020)
On June 21, 2018, the Philadelphia 76ers picked Thomas 38th overall in the 2018 NBA draft. Soon after, he was traded to the Detroit Pistons. He made his first NBA appearance on November 9, 2018. He played four minutes and scored a three-pointer against the Atlanta Hawks. In November 2020, the Pistons traded him to the Atlanta Hawks, but he was released shortly after.
Austin Spurs (2021)
In December 2020, Thomas joined the Austin Spurs. This team plays in the NBA G League, which is like a development league for the NBA. He played seven games for them. He averaged 13.9 points and shot very well from three-point range.
Houston Rockets (2021)
On May 7, 2021, Khyri Thomas signed a short contract with the Houston Rockets. He played very well in his first two games, averaging 21.5 points. On May 8, 2021, he scored a career-high 27 points in a game against the Utah Jazz. He also had five rebounds, five steals, and three assists in that game. He later signed a longer contract with the Rockets but was released in October.
Playing in Europe (2021–2024)
After playing in the NBA, Thomas moved to Europe to continue his career.
- Bilbao Basket (2021–2022): In November 2021, he signed with Bilbao Basket in Spain. He played only two games for them.
- Maccabi Tel Aviv (2022): In January 2022, he joined Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel. This team also plays in the EuroLeague, a top European basketball league.
- Tofaş (2022): In July 2022, he signed with Tofaş in Turkey. However, he decided to take a break from basketball for personal reasons after playing only two games.
- Petkim Spor (2023–2024): In July 2023, he returned to Turkey and signed with Petkim Spor.
Calgary Surge (2025–Present)
On March 24, 2025, Khyri Thomas signed a one-year contract with the Calgary Surge. This team plays in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. He was the first player to sign with the team for the 2025 season.
