History of Kidron

Kidron was first settled in 1819. A group of Mennonites came here from Switzerland. They were looking for a new home because they faced challenges with their religion and farming conditions in their homeland.

These Swiss Mennonites came from an area near the Jura Mountains. In Switzerland, they were called "Die Stillen im Lande," which means "the quiet people in the country." They first named their new settlement Sonnenberg. Later, the name changed to Kidron, which is what it is called today.
