About Kieran Goss
Kieran Goss was born in 1962 in Mayobridge, a town in County Down, Northern Ireland. He grew up there before starting his music career.
Early Music Career
Kieran recorded his first album, Brand New Star, in 1989. This album included two songs, "Brand New Star" and "Just Around The Corner." These songs caught the attention of famous singer Mary Black. She liked them so much that she recorded both songs for her own album, Babes in the Wood.
Popular Albums and Songs
After Brand New Star, Kieran released another album called New Day in 1994. In 1998, he released Worse Than Pride. This album featured a very popular song called "Out Of My Head," which became a Top 10 hit. It was one of the most played songs on Irish radio that year. Worse Than Pride was very successful, selling so many copies that it earned "double platinum status" within nine months. This means it sold over 140,000 copies!
In 2000, Kieran released Red-Letter Day. This album included a song that fans really loved, "Reasons To Leave."
Later Works and Compilations
In 2002, Kieran Goss put out a collection of his best songs called Out of my Head... The Best Of Kieran Goss. This album allowed fans to enjoy many of his popular tunes in one place.
His sixth studio album, Blue Sky Sunrise, was recorded in Tennessee, USA, in 2005. It was produced by well-known musicians Rodney Crowell and Peter Coleman. Kieran continues to make music and perform. As of 2025, he lives in County Sligo, Ireland.
Family Connections
Kieran Goss is also the uncle of Tomm Moore. Tomm Moore is a very talented director who has been nominated for an Oscar three times for his animated films.
