Kim's Volleyball Journey
Kim Fajardo started playing volleyball when she was very young, in Grade 2. In high school, she was part of the UST Junior Golden Tigresses team. She first played as a utility spiker, which means she could play in different attacking roles. Later, she became a setter, helping her teammates score points.
Kim played alongside Alyssa Valdez on the UST team. They were also teammates on the Philippine girls' national volleyball team. They competed in the 2008 Asian Youth Girls Volleyball Championship, where the Philippines finished in 8th place.
College Volleyball Success
In 2010, Kim went to De La Salle University for her college studies. Because she transferred from another UAAP school, she had to wait one year before playing. This is a rule in the UAAP (University Athletic Association of the Philippines).
As a member of the DLSU Lady Spikers, Kim won many championships. She helped her team win three UAAP indoor volleyball titles. These were in Season 75, Season 78, and Season 79. She also won one UAAP beach volleyball championship in Season 78.
Kim was named the "Best Setter" three times during her UAAP career. This is a big achievement! She earned this award in Season 76, Season 78, and Season 79. She was also named the "Most Valuable Player" (MVP) for beach volleyball in UAAP Season 78.
Kim graduated from De La Salle University in 2015 with a degree in Sports Management. Even after graduating, she decided to play her final year of eligibility in Season 79. She was the team captain for the second time. In this season, she was named both the "Best Setter" and the "Best Server." She led her young team to their second straight championship.
Professional and National Team Play
Kim also achieved success in other tournaments. She was named "Best Server" in the 2014 Philippine National Games. The next year, in the 2015 edition, she was named "Most Valuable Player." She also won the "Best Setter" award twice in the PVF Intercollegiate Volleyball Championship (in 2013 and 2015).
In 2016, Kim was chosen to be part of the Philippine Super Liga All-Stars. This team represented the country in the 2016 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship. Kim performed well, finishing sixth in the "Best Setter" rankings.
With the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers club team, Kim won two championships. These were the 2016 PSL All-Filipino Conference and the 2017 PSL Grand Prix Conference. She was also awarded "Best Setter" in both of these conferences.
