Kim Fields' Acting Journey
Before The Facts of Life, Kim Fields was in a sitcom called Baby, I'm Back. She also appeared in a TV commercial for Mrs. Butterworth's syrup. She was even on two episodes of Good Times as a friend of Penny, played by Janet Jackson.
Becoming Tootie Ramsey
Kim Fields played Dorothy "Tootie" Ramsey on The Facts of Life from 1979 to 1988. Many people still remember her famous line, "We're in troouu-ble!" When the show started, Kim was very short. So, the producers had her wear roller skates in the first season. This helped them film her more easily.
During her time on The Facts of Life, Kim also tried singing. She released two songs, "He Loves Me He Loves Me Not" and "Dear Michael."
From Teen Star to Adult Roles
In 1993, Kim Fields got a main role in the popular sitcom Living Single. She played Regina "Reginé" Hunter. In a cool twist, her real-life mother, Chip Fields, played her character's mom on the show!
After Living Single ended, Kim Fields started directing. She used her degree from Pepperdine University to work behind the camera.
Directing and Guest Appearances
Kim Fields directed many episodes of the show Kenan & Kel. She even appeared in two episodes of that show herself. She has also directed episodes for other sitcoms like Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns and Tyler Perry's House of Payne.
She has also made guest appearances on many TV shows. These include One on One and Martin. In 2007, she had a fun reunion with her Facts of Life co-star Lisa Whelchel on a TV show. It was the first time they had seen each other in six years!
Recent Projects and Reality TV
Kim Fields has worked on projects with her husband, Christopher Morgan. In 2010, they produced and directed a Christmas TV special called Holiday Love. This show aired on TV One.
In 2015, Kim joined the cast of the reality TV show The Real Housewives of Atlanta for its eighth season. She decided not to return for another season. In 2016, she also competed on Dancing with the Stars with professional dancer Sasha Farber. They finished in 8th place.
In 2017, Kim Fields starred in a Christian film called A Question of Faith. This was her first big role in a movie. Since May 2021, she has been starring in the Netflix series The Upshaws.
Kim Fields' Family Life
Kim Fields was married to film producer Johnathon Franklin Freeman from 1995 to 2001. She later married Broadway actor Christopher Morgan in 2007.
