Chip Fields is an American singer, actress, and television director. She has appeared in many popular movies and TV shows, and even on Broadway. She is well-known for playing Linella Gordon in the 1970s TV show Good Times. Chip Fields is also the mother of actress Kim Fields, who starred in The Facts of Life, and actress Alexis Fields Jackson.

Chip Fields was born in New York. Her mother was from Jamaica, and her father was African-American.
She started her career as a singer. In 1973, she joined the famous music group The Ronettes with Ronnie Spector. They recorded two songs for Buddah Records.
Her Acting Career
Chip Fields began acting in 1974 as an extra in the movie Claudine. She has had many supporting roles and guest appearances on TV.
In the 1970s, she played an unwed mother on the soap opera Days of Our Lives. She also played the birth mother of Penny Gordon Woods (played by Janet Jackson) on the TV show Good Times.
From 1978 to 1979, she played Rita Conway in The Amazing Spider-Man TV series. Rita Conway was the secretary for J. Jonah Jameson.
Chip Fields also appeared in many other popular TV shows like What's Happening!!, Hill Street Blues, T. J. Hooker, and Roc. She played the role of Laverne, who was the mother of Regine (played by her real-life daughter, Kim Fields) on the show Living Single.
Her Directing Work
Besides acting, Chip Fields has also worked as a consultant and dialogue coach for films and TV shows. She was a dialogue coach for the movie Menace II Society.
