Kim Richardson is a talented Canadian singer and actress. She was born on December 22, 1965. Kim became famous in the 1980s. She won two big music awards called Juno Awards. Kim is still very active today. In 2017, she performed in over 150 shows. Most of these shows were in the province of Quebec.

Early Life and Family
Kim Richardson grew up in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. Music runs in her family! Her mother, Jackie Richardson, is a famous singer and actress. Kim's aunt, Betty Richardson, is also a blues and jazz singer. Her cousin, Gairey Richardson, was a host on a TV show. It was called Polka Dot Door.
Starting Her Music Career
Kim began performing professionally in the early 1980s. She sang blues, jazz, and R&B music. She also performed with her family's music group, The Richardsons.
Her first song, "He's My Lover", came out in 1985. It was a dance-pop song. Kim won an award for Most Promising Female Vocalist. This was at the Juno Awards of 1986.
Winning Juno Awards
Her second song, "Peek-a-Boo", was released in 1986. This song won the award for Best R&B/Soul Recording. This happened at the Juno Awards of 1987. "Peek-a-Boo" was also named best single. Kim was named best female artist at the 1987 Black Music Awards of Canada.
Her third song, "I Want It", came out in 1987. That same year, she helped record a Christmas charity song. It was called "A Christmas Wish". Many other Toronto-area performers were part of it.
Moving to Montreal and New Music
Later, Kim moved to Montreal, Quebec. There, she performed with the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir. She also worked with Jim Hillman and the Merlin Factor. This band won a Juno Award in 1995. It was for Best Contemporary Jazz Album.
Recent Work and Albums
Kim continued to perform in Montreal. She sang jazz music. She also acted in musical theatre shows. Kim kept working with her mother. She also sang backup for other musicians.
Her first full album, Kaleidoscope, was released in 2006. Her second album, Mes amours, followed in 2011. She also helped record music for the 2011 film Funkytown. In recent years, she has often worked with singer-songwriter Jonathan Roy.
